A rural suburb was plunged into lockdown for five hours after shots were fired during an alleged home invasion. 

Police established an emergency declaration in Purga, south-west of Brisbane on Monday night.

It comes after authorities were called to an address on Ipswich Boonah Road at about 4.35pm following reports of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, police located an occupant who managed to escape the home uninjured and identified two armed men and a woman were still inside

Specialist officers engaged with the trio for several hours, before all three were arrested at 9.45pm without incident.

A Nerang man, 34, a Willow Vale woman, 29 and a Kensington Grove man, 32, are now assisting police with inquires. No charges have yet been laid.

‘Multiple crime scenes have been declared at the address,’ a police statement read.

‘There is no ongoing threat to public safety and investigations are ongoing.’

The exclusion zone encompassed Ipswich Boonah Road to the west, Hughes Rd to the north, Eastfield Court to the east and Carmichael Rd to the south.

Members of the public within the exclusion were urged to stay indoors and await further instruction.

Queensland Police advised the rest of the public to avoid the area.
