California Dad Charged with Murder After 6-year-old Boy Dies Inside Hot Car

A 6-year-old California boy died after being left inside a vehicle Saturday during record-breaking heat in Paso Robles, authorities confirmed.

Police were alerted to the child’s death shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. Detectives believe the boy’s father, 27-year-old Briant Reyes-Estrada, parked his vehicle at the Paso Robles Inn for several hours before taking the child to Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton, where the child was pronounced dead, Fox 26 reports.

The temperature reached 99 degrees Fahrenheit in Paso Robles that day.

Police sad the defendant may have been parked at the Paso Robles Inn for numerous hours while leaving his son inside the vehicle.

Hotel employees told KSBY that Reyes-Estrada had worked at the Paso Robles Inn that day.

Reyes-Estrada was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and willful harm or injury to a child likely to produce great bodily injury, according to local media reports.

The city is about 200 miles up the Pacific Coast from Los Angeles, according to AccuWeather.
