The 31-year-old woman and 24-year-old man died after they parked their white MG sedan in the southbound emergency lane on the Forrest Highway in South Yunderup, near Mandurah, at 6.20pm yesterday.

They were hit by a blue Volvo station wagon that was also travelling south.

The driver stopped to help, but the pair died at the scene.

The people in the MG were less than half an hour from their destination in Waroon.

It’s unclear what caused them to stop.

Police are investigating the crash and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
