Kate Middleton debuted a bold, blonder hairdo Tuesday as she stepped out in Scotland on her and Prince William’s 14th wedding anniversary.
The Princess of Wales’ sunkissed locks shined bright as she strode the streets of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull during the first day of her and William’s two-day tour of the Inner Hebrides (an archipelago off the west coast of mainland Scotland).
Though Catherine, 43, did not go “full blonde,” she traded her usually dark chocolate brown hair for a more caramel hue. Notably, the mother of three’s famous long tresses have looked lighter as of late.
Some have speculated that her hair became more honey-hued after a mid-February family vacation to the island of Mustique in the Caribbean. But the princess’ perfectly wavy strands had clearly reached new heights of blonde when she greeted well-wishers gathered in the picturesque coastal town on Tuesday.
Tuesday also marked the 14th anniversary of her wedding to Prince William, 42, and the pair will reportedly celebrate the occasion privately as they enjoy an overnight stay in a local self-catering cottage, per news.com.au.
William and Kate famously tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey on Apr. 29, 2011, with millions around the globe tuning in to see the late Princess Diana’s eldest son (and future King) say “I do.”
Catherine donned a Holland Cooper blazer, brown skinny jeans, a blue linen button down shirt and brown boots as she began the Scottish tour, The Mirror reported. The Princess of Wales also wore a Cartier watch, thought to have been a third wedding anniversary gift from Prince William, and two necklaces, one of which was adorned with charms for the first initials of her children (George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 7), the outlet added.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ trip to the Inner Hebrides marks the first overnight tour that Kate — known in Scotland as the Duchess of Rothesay — has undertaken since she announced last year that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
The princess revealed in September that she is “cancer free” and slowly began returning to royal duties shortly thereafter.
Scotland holds a special place in William and Kate’s heart as they met at St. Andrew’s University on the country’s eastern coast. Their romance blossomed quickly they quietly, and they quietly began dating just one year after first crossing paths.
After completing day one of their tour, the prince and princess shared a personal message and a sweet photo on social media.
“Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull,” the couple captioned a snap showing them with their arms wrapped around one another as they take in the island’s picturesque landscape. “Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome.”
They signed the message with their initials, “W & C,” which they use to indicate they personally wrote a social media post.
