Amanda Kloots’ boyfriend Justin Gimelstob’s ex accused him of ‘stalking’ and ‘assaulting’ her in front of toddler son

AMANDA Kloots’ new boyfriend Justin Gimelstob’s ex-wife has accused him of stalking and assault in a restraining order request years before his romance with The Talk alum.

Amanda, 43, and Justin, 48, went public with their romance at the Unforgettable Evening cancer research event in Beverly Hills on Monday, April 28.

While the former talk show host said her “courtship” with the retired tennis star is “very new,” she gushed that their relationship has been “absolutely lovely.”

But Justin’s past has left fans concerned for Amanda, as he has been accused of domestic violence, assault and more disturbing claims.

The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal Justin’s ex-wife filed a restraining order request against him on February 29, 2016, as part of their divorce.

Cary Gimelstob filed for divorce from Justin in July 2015 after three years of marriage.

In Cary’s restraining order request, she asked the court to be protected from Justin, and to protect their then-two-year-old son Brandon and her parents.

Cary detailed multiple incidents of alleged abuse throughout the restraining order request.

She began with an alleged incident of abuse that took place on February 26, 2016, days before the request was filed.

She claimed, “For the second time this past week, Justin showed up at a class Brandon and I attend together to harass me, stalk me, say threatening and degrading things to me in front of Brandon and steal my cell phone.

“Justin does not regularly attend the classes I go to with Brandon and was not there for any legitimate reason.

“When Justin arrived, he began following me around the school and saying threatening and harassing things to me in front of Brandon.”

Cary continued to claim, “Justin has physically assaulted, harassed, verbally attacked, and stolen from me in front of Brandon. He has threatened other emotional abuse against Brandon. He has verbally attacked [my parents] and broken into a house they own.”

In a second incident described in the restraining order request, Cary claimed Justin engaged in a “pattern of physical assaults, verbal threats and assaults, stalking and harassment from December 5-7, 2015.”

She continued to allege, “During that weekend (and the following Monday), Justin physically assaulted me twice in front of our son Brandon (once while he was holding Brandon in his arms) during a custodial exchange.

“Justin also informed me that he had placed a video recording device in my bedroom and had recordings of me having sex with another man and intended to show them to Brandon.”

She claimed Justin broke into the home she was living in and allegedly told her she “shouldn’t bother setting the alarm” because he planned to continue trespassing.

Cary claimed, “Justin also verbally threatened and assaulted me in front of Brandon and others, including by threatening that he would take Brandon away forever, that I would never see Brandon again, and that Justin wished he could hit me.”

She claimed his actions that weekend made her “so afraid” that she moved out of the home.

Cary alleged Justin had continued to “stalk” her during the duration of the move, resulting in her contacting the police to “force him to leave.”

In another example of abuse on September 16, 2015, she claimed he “got very angry” and “lost control” while at her home.

She said he was “so frightened” that she took a picture of him with her phone to “have it for the future.”

“Justin got enraged that I had taken a picture, so he grabbed my phone out of my hand,” she claimed in court papers.

“Justin then attempted to hit me in the face with the phone, but I lunged backwards and avoided it. Justin deleted the picture from the phone, but remained enraged and continued screaming at me, calling me names, and shouting profanities.

“I was scared for both myself and Brandon and wanted to get away.”

She claimed Justin then “forcefully ripped Brandon” out of her arms, screamed at her and called her names for 45 minutes.

Cary continued to allege, “Later, Justin stole my cell phone, giving him access to all of my private communications (including with my attorney in our divorce case) and ran out of the house with it.

“After Justin left, I was so terrified he might return to the house and hurt me, that I felt it wasn’t safe for me and Brandon to stay in our house, so went to stay with my parents for several weeks in order to ensure our safety.”

On December 5, 2015, she claimed Justin physically assaulted her twice in front of their son during a custodial exchange.

She claimed that as she was attempting to close the door to her home, Justin “physically attempted to push the door back open into me while he was still holding our son. Justin then placed Brandon down and shoved the door as hard as he could so it pushed into me and knocked me down.”

Cary claimed he then followed her around the home and called her “w***e” and “b***h, allegedly in front of their two-year-old son.

She then wrote, “I eventually went to pick up Brandon and put him into Justin’s car. Justin got into the driver’s seat of his car, and I opened the back door of his car to place Brandon in his car seat and buckle him in.

“While I was halfway in the car and halfway out, trying to fasten Brandon’s belt buckle, Justin accelerated his car backwards, causing the open car door to knock me over. I fell forward onto the door of the car (with my legs still hanging out of the car).

“While I was halfway inside the car and halfway out, Justin continued to ‘lurch’ the car so that I continued to get bumped around the car and could not get out.

“I was so frightened after this incident that I immediately knew I needed to move out of the house in order to ensure Brandon and my safety.”

He tackled me to the ground and purposely fell on top of me, pinning me to the door.”

In another alleged instance of abuse, she said, “During the first week of February 2015, Justin gave me his cell phone to look at. When I discovered something on it that he did not want me to see, he tried to take it away from me.

“When Justin could not grab the phone from me, he tackled me to the ground and purposely fell on top of me, pinning me to the door.

“He then began grabbing my arms and trying to pull them toward him in order to try and reach his cell phone. Justin did not release me until he had physically removed the phone from my hands.”

She even noted an alleged instance involving their son, as she claimed, “Justin has also stolen items of Brandon’s, including items to which Brandon has developed attachments.

“On one occasion, Justin stole a ‘hippo’ that is very important to Brandon and used it to taunt Brandon when he was angry with me by hanging it out the window of his car while Brandon was watching.”

On September 14, 2015, she claimed he said “all of his problems would be solved if I died.”

She requested Justin attend 26 anger management sessions.

“If the court does not grant my request that visitation be professionally monitored, I ask that the court leave in place the current order that states custodial exchanges be professionally monitored,” she requested.

Cary asked that her ex stay 100 yards away from her, her home, her workplace, her car, their children’s school and each person listed in the papers.

JUSTIN’S SIDE

That same day, Justin filed a restraining order request asking to be protected from Cary.

His request read, “During marriage up to the present time, no DVROs have been brought against me, but Cary has continually threatened to bring DVROs against me when she does not get what she wants in connection with custody of our son.

“I am an on-air commentator for professional tennis, a professional tennis coach for the ranked male tennis player in the United States, and an active board member of the Association of Tennis Professionals. As an on-air personality, my reputation is very important to the success of my career.”

He claimed Cary threatened to make false allegations of domestic violence against him to force him to enter agreements.

Justin wrote in the request, “Although Cary has had a boyfriend since August 2015, she continues to be obsessed about me having a girlfriend. In the text message I received, Cary taunts me by stating, “Poor girl, Justin. We all get it that you have a girlfriend but treat her with respect.”

He also claimed she called him a “terrible” and “horrible” father.

He claimed in his request for a restraining order, “I was next to Brandon, and I went to give him another fruit snack out of the bag and as I was in the process of giving it to him, Cary hit my hand and the bag so hard that I was not able to hold onto it. The bag hit the ground and the remaining fruit snacks spilled out onto the pavement.”

He claimed that for the last seven months prior to the request, he had been “living in fear of Cary and her powerful, influential and wealthy family.”

Justin continued to allege, “I believe the current request for DVROs are being brought against me by Cary and her family in retaliation because I will not be forced into signing a Parenting Plan Coordinator Agreement on their timetable.

“Cary has been emotionally, mentally and physically abusive to me over the last seven months.”

He claimed she “taunted” him with the fact that she has another man in their home.

He also shut down claims Cary is “afraid” of him.

He claimed, “Given all of the time we have spent together over the last seven months, it is not credible that Cary would claim to be fearful of me or scared to be in my presence.”

He claimed they have taken walks together, participated in joint workout classes, played with their son, gotten dinner and more.

He also insisted he did not physically assault, threaten to hurt or place her in any harm.

He requested visitation with Brandon not be monitored and that her Domestic Violence Restraining Order request be denied because “there has been no domestic violence.”

Both restraining order requests were temporarily granted by a Los Angeles judge.

The divorce and custody proceedings remained tumultuous for years, as the final document in the case was filed in October 2024.

SCARY CLAIMS

Justin found himself accused of assault again when he allegedly attacked his friend Randall Kaplan while the men were trick-or-treating with their children on Halloween in 2018.

Randall accused Justin of hitting him multiple times and threatening to kill him.

Justin claimed Randall had insulted his father, who had recently died.

The tennis coach pleaded no contest, as his lawyer said he did so to “move on with his professional life.”

He got three years probation, 60 days of community service, and was ordered to attend anger management classes for a year.

FAN CONCERN

Fans have turned to social media to warn the beloved TV personality of Justin.

“I understand that people can change, but wow there are a lot of red flags with this guy,” one commented on Instagram.

A second wrote, “Ugh this guy is the worst.”

A third said, “Oh my… has a disturbing background.”

HEAD OVER HEELS

People reported on their first public outing on the red carpet of the event, as Justin said of their new romance, “I was admiring her, well before she gave me a shot.”

She added, “It kind of happened very naturally, which is great.”

The two knew each other for over a year before they began dating.

Justin said of his new girlfriend, “She’s just an incredibly special person. Obviously, she’s physically beautiful, but the way she handles everything. She’s so classy and has so much grace and is an amazing mother.

“She cares about people. She’s generous in spirit. She has a beautiful energy and is an amazing athlete. I mean, I could keep going and going.”

The Talk alum then gushed of him, “He’s a wonderful man, [and] wonderful father. I love how he takes care of me.”

Amanda’s husband, Nick Cordero, died in July 2020 from covid at 41 years old.

She is mom to son Elvis, 5, who she revealed has met Justin.
