The upcoming episode of Sister Wives will address the tragic death of Garrison Brown.
Garrison Brown of ‘Sister Wives’ died in March 2024

On Monday, TLC shared a teaser for the May 4 installment of the long-running reality series.
“On the next Sister Wives, Janelle, Kody, and the Brown family face an unimaginable loss,” read the Instagram post, which also included information about the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Garrison, 25, died by suicide in March 2024 at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The network also shared a brief clip from the episode, which featured Garrison’s mother Janelle Brown.
“I don’t know what happened,” a tearful Janelle says, apparently recalling the moments after she learned what had happened to her son. “I don’t remember the next few minutes but I got in the car and I drove.”
Sister Wives Season 19 premiered in September 2024, but the show has not yet addressed Garrison’s death and the effect it had on the Brown family. The season did open with a series of title cards explaining the timeline of filming the current season.
“This season of Sister Wives began filming in late 2022,” the cards read. “On March 5, 2024, Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.”
Janelle Brown says substance abuse ‘definitely’ played a role in Garrison’s death
In a 2024 interview with People, Janelle spoke about the loss of her son. The mom of six said that “substance abuse definitely played a role” in his suicide.
“I think for him, I would say the substance abuse was really probably one of the biggest factors,” adding that she didn’t know “what we could have done different[ly].”
The family was aware of Garrison’s issues with substance abuse and tried to help him.
“We were always talking to him, we were loving him. All the things were there,” Janelle said. “It really just was something he could not… like the demon he couldn’t get on top of the battle. He couldn’t seem to get over. And it just wasn’t for lack of love or lack of anything.”
Nonetheless, Janelle said that she sometimes fell into “a grief trap” as she wondered if there was anything else she could have done to help Garrison.
“I think ultimately everybody is responsible for their own actions and their own decisions,” she continued. “We did everything. We really did everything that we could have done. And unfortunately, sometimes that still isn’t enough.”
In March 2025, Janelle shared a tribute to her son on the one-year anniversary of his death.
“I stay busy but in EVERY quiet moment you are first and foremost in my thoughts,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s been a year baby. We miss you so much. I miss you so much.”
