Police say Adshaiyan Arunasalam, 24, from Parramatta was swept off the rocks in the huge swell which battered the coast over Easter.

Extensive searches were carried out for him.

Now his family, say they their “hearts are shattered”, and they just want to “bring Akshayan home”.

They want underwater searches launched.

“Every moment since has been an agonising wait, filled with uncertainty and grief that words can hardly express,” they said in a statement.

“We are deeply thankful to the police, Surf Life Saving guards, and emergency services who have supported us through these dark days with their tireless work and compassion.

“But with each day that passes without specialised underwater searches, our hope grows more fragile.

“We make this urgent and heartfelt plea to the authorities: please, deploy all available resources.”

On Easter Sunday there were 50 rescues in NSW with another 100 lives saved since Good Friday, 30 of them involving the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
