A man has been charged with murder weeks after police initially declared the death of a teenage girl as ‘not suspicious’.
Audrey Griffin’s body was pulled from Erina Creek on the NSW Central Coast on March 24, a day after she was last seen with friends at a pub nearby.
Police said her death was ‘not initially believed to be suspicious’ at the time.
Police made a breakthrough on Monday when they arrested a 53-year-old man in the inner-Sydney of suburb Surry Hills.
He was charged with murder and 11 unrelated domestic violence matters.
‘Police will allege the man had a physical altercation with the victim,’ the statement read.
The man was denied bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.
