Wife of Weezer bassist charged with attempted murder of police after manhunt suspect wanders into her backyard, cops say

A California woman who was shot by police while they searched a Los Angeles neighborhood for a suspect was identified as Jillian Shriner, 51, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, 59.

Jillian Shriner, who also uses the name Jillian Lauren, found herself in the middle of a manhunt on April 8 and allegedly pointed a gun at Los Angeles police officers. According to reporting by KCAL, a local CBS affiliate, police were chasing three suspects in a hit-and-run incident on the 134 Freeway and set up a perimeter in a suburban neighborhood known as Eagle Rock.

Lauren saw one of the suspects on her property and came out of her home wielding a firearm. Police caught up to the scene and witnessed Lauren aiming her gun. According to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department, officers ordered Lauren to drop her weapon “numerous times,” but she “refused.”
