A woman was asleep inside her bedroom when a car crashed through her home, causing the wall to collapse over her.

Police allege a 32-year-old man driving a white Toyota Hilux failed to safely turn and smashed through a fence and a home on Poynter Drive in Duncraig, in northern Perth, about 9.25pm yesterday.

The impact caused a wall to partially collapse over a 61-year-old woman who was asleep at the time.

The woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment. 

Today, the home was covered up with plastic and tape as bricks and broken fencing laid on the yard.

Police have charged the man with driver failing to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning bodily harm and driver in an incident occasioning property damage failing to give name and address. 

He is due to face Joondalup Magistrates Court on April 23.
