A Kentucky woman and her boyfriend are facing charges after a 3-year-old boy allegedly suffered severe burns to his hands and forearms — and the couple waited three hours to take the victim to the hospital for treatment.

Breanna Nicole Lair, 24, and Jacob Sneed, 25, both stand accused of first-degree child abuse. Sneed faces an additional assault charge.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, cops with the Louisville Metro Police Department received a call Sunday about a 3-year-old boy on his way to Norton Children’s Hospital suffering from burns to the “entirety of both hands and firearms.” Cops allege Lair left the boy alone with Sneed for about an hour when the her boyfriend intentionally submerged the victim’s hands in “extremely hot water.”

Once Lair learned of the abuse, she allegedly waited up to three hours to seek medical attention for the boy. Lair later admitted she lied to medical staff about how her son suffered the injuries, according cops.

Additionally, Lair left her son alone with Sneed despite an order from Child Protective Services not to do so as the agency was investigating a previous abuse allegation, the affidavit said. Details of that allegation were not available.

“The totality of the suspects intentional actions led to the victim, whom [Lair] has parental custody over, being placed in a situation in which he received serious physical injuries,” cops wrote.
