Rory McIlroy’s cruel Masters narrative will finally be put to rest

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Sometimes, a good bit of irony is simply too perfect to ignore.

Rory McIlroy, as he’s been preparing to play in his 17th career Masters, the major championship he most desperately wants to win and the one that’s been so cruelly elusive to date, is reading a novel this week.

“I actually got some fiction into my life,’’ he said. “It’s a John Grisham book.’’
