A homicide investigation is under way after a man’s body was discovered at a property on Victoria’s Phillip Island.

Police were called to a home at the intersection of Church Street and Justice Road in Cowes, a township on the island with a population of just under 7000, after reports a body was found at around 10.20am today.

A second man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was found with suspected self-inflicted injuries in Ventnor, around 6km from Cowes.

He was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.

Police believe both parties are known to one another.

An investigation is ongoing.
