Tennessee driver charged with deadly hit-and-run had posted about how the victim would ‘be missed’

A Tennessee woman who allegedly killed a bicyclist in a hit-and-run crash had posted about how much the victim would “be missed” — and even shared appeals to find the killer driver, according to reports.

Haley Layman, 25, was arrested Tuesday, a day after Bobby Green was run over and killed while riding his bicycle in Palmer, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office announced

She admitted to drinking before the crash and then driving her damaged vehicle to a nearby county to cover up her tracks, according to police reports obtained by WTVC.

Before her arrest, Layman had shared a heartfelt tribute to the dead man on Facebook, writing: “Rest in peace Bobby Dan you’re going to be missed so much!”

Layman posted “Bobby Dan you’re going to be missed so much” just 12 hours after the fatal crash.

A few hours later, she shared a gut-wrenching plea from Green’s daughter, Clara Green, begging for information on the crime Layman has since been charged with.

“They hit him, came back, and checked to make sure he wasn’t getting up, and left him in the road to die,” the daughter wrote in the post shared by Layman.

“He passed away 5 minutes after being put in the ambulance, Please help me. I can’t imagine leaving someone on the road to die alone… I would never be able to do something like that.”

Layman then shared yet another post just before 5 p.m. Tuesday from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office — three hours before its deputies arrested her for the crimes it was seeking information on

The dead bicyclist had struggled with homelessness and addiction, according to his daughter, who blamed it on him being vulnerable on his bicycle.

Layman also reposted the gut wrenching pleas of Bobby Green’s daughter, Clara Green, for more information on who killed her father. GoFundMe

“You don’t ever have to be in the situation where you’re homeless and riding a bike to the store because you don’t have a vehicle,” Clara said, according to WTVC.

“She hit him so hard that it hurt… tore up his right leg and ripped his pinky off his right hand,” Clara said, describing the gruesome accident.

“I’ll pray for you. I don’t hate you, I just wish you would’ve made a different decision, to not drink and drive,” she said of Layman.

Layman was charged with leaving the scene of an accident knowing death resulted and tampering with evidence.
