Police allege a man was stabbed during an altercation between two men at a home in Heywood Crescent in Seymour, around 110km north of Melbourne, just before 3am.

Paramedics worked on the 28-year-old man in the driveway but he couldn’t be saved.

A 41-year-old man has since been charged with one count of murder and will front court tomorrow.

Friends have told 9News the man who died, a young father, was a “gentle soul”, and an avid painter who loved animals.

Police said yesterday the two men were known to each other.

A crime scene was established at the home, and police have started investigating the death.
