A woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing two people with a pen outside a shopping centre in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Police believe two women aged 41 and 21 became involved in an argument on a bus travelling along Anzac Parade in Maroubra about 11.30am.

The older woman allegedly stabbed the 21-year-old with a pen as the bus stopped outside Westfield Eastgardens.

A 34-year-old male passenger attempted to separate the women before he was also allegedly stabbed with the pen.

The 41-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Maroubra Police Station.

Paramedics treated the other woman at the scene before she was taken to Royal Prince Alfred with facial injuries.

The man suffered only minor injuries.

Police believe the parties are not known to each other, however there is no ongoing threat to the community.
