An 18-year-old has been charged with murder after a stabbing outside a Melbourne shopping centre.

Police were called to the Marriot Waters shopping centre in Lyndhurst about 8.30pm on March 14 after reports of a fight between a group of men.

When emergency services arrived, they found 24-year-old Timothy Leek with serious stabbing wounds.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

Yesterday afternoon police arrested an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old boy in Doveton.

Both were questioned by police, and the 18-year-old was charged with murder while the younger boy was released without charge.

The 18-year-old is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
