Meghan Markle’s Netflix Series Debut Pushed Back: ‘The Timing Could Hardly Be Worse’

Find out what a royal commentator expects everyone at Netflix is doing after seeing the reviews for the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle show.

Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle show on Netflix hasn’t received glowing reviews or become the major hit the duchess had been hoping for. While With Love, Meghan did get some “love” from her fans, it was panned by critics and pulled in a dismal Rotten Tomatoes score with many giving the series one star or just a half-a-star rating.

After their super successful docuseries Harry & Meghan, which was released on the streaming platform in 2022, the Sussexes were still trying to produce a follow-up hit as their other projects Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Polo all flopped.

Now, an expert is sharing that Netflix executives are “pulling their hair out” over Harry’s wife‘s new show. Here’s more on that and what an insider has revealed after the streaming gaint claimed With Love, Meghan was renewed for Season 2.

Why Netflix execs are ‘pulling their hair out’ following ‘With Love, Meghan’ premiere

To Di For Daily podcast host and royal commentator Kinsey Schofield spokeon Sky News Australia about why the verdict on Meghan’s new show is a real headache for Netflix.

According to Scholfield, “Netflix must be pulling their hair out right now thinking about all the money they invested in this pair [Sussexes]. And what’s the return on investment been? A lot of negative press and alienating themselves from relationships that maybe they could have had with the real working royals who are producing documentaries like Queen Camilla’s domestic violence documentaries and Prince William’s homeless documentaries.

“I feel like they [Netflix] really made a mistake here and picked the wrong horse.”

Insider reveals that Netflix did not renew the show for a second season

On March 7, Netflix announced that With Love, Meghan had been renewed for a second season.

The press release read: “Don’t put away your flower sprinkles just yet — ‘With Love, Meghan‘ will be back for Season 2. In the series, which premiered March 4, Meghan shares personal tips and tricks for hosting and adding more fun and thoughtfulness to the everyday.

“Drawing on her years of home cooking and entertaining, she spends time with friends new and old as they make memories together — whether reminiscing about growing up in Los Angeles with chef Roy Choi or laughing at the prospect of tucking a fish into a blanket of salt with cherished girlfriends.”

However, that’s a little misleading considering that the remaining episodes, which will be released sometime in the fall, were already filmed together with the episodes for the show’s first season.

The Daily Mail reported that a Netflix insider confirmed: “I know they filmed the shows back-to-back so in theory there is no second season it’s like with lots of Netflix shows it is already in the bag at the same time as the first one. What this does is allow edits to be made to the show from feedback from press and Netflix viewers. It’s clever and cost-effective.”

However, because the show has received such poor reviews the source reiterated that the series is “not a runaway success” and putting out another season does not mean that Harry and Meghan’s contract with Netflix will be renewed.
