Halle Berry confirmed her relationship with musician Van Hunt way back in 2020, and the two have been going strong since. But despite them seemingly having a wholesome relationship, insiders claimed that Berry is still hesitant on marrying her soulmate.

Berry dated several celebrities and married three times before finding what might be her true partner in Van Hunt. The Bruised star met the singer through his brother, who Berry was already a friend of. Their meeting couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time for the Oscar-winner, who was just starting to figure herself out.
“The minute I started to feel like I understood myself and what I had been doing wrong, Van’s brother, who I had known for many years, came to me and said, ‘you should meet my brother,’” she said in an interview with Marie Claire.
Sparks quickly flew after she and Hunt met. Berry even claimed that she fell in love with Hunt in a way she hadn’t with any of her previous partners.
“It was the first time I was madly in love before I had sex. That has never happened to me, ever,” Berry said. “Talk about one of those life-changing, beautiful experiences. It was magical, just magical.”
“It took me a minute to get it right,” she added. “But the nature of the way this happened, I have a real belief that this is it. This is my person.”
Berry confided that she was considering tying the knot with Hunt in the future. But after five years, it seems the pair aren’t any closer to marriage despite being closer to each other. A source explained not too long ago why marriage might not be in the couple’s future.
“Halle doesn’t want to make another mistake and end up in divorce court. Van’s so easygoing and great with her two kids, but the idea of saying ‘I do’ only to have the marriage crash and burn scares her,” a source said according to Ok!.
The source also asserted that their net worth presented an issue when it came to marriage. Berry is reportedly worth $90 million, whereas Hunt is worth $10 million. Additionally, the source argued that their relationship is simply fine the way it is now.
“She’s happier than she’s been in a long time,” the insider explained. “Why rock the boat?”

One of the reasons Berry and Hunt got to know each other so well is because they started dating during the height of the pandemic. This gave the celebrity couple plenty of time to get to know each other on a personal level without any distractions. Since then, they’ve never stopped fighting for love.
“Because of COVID, we spent four months talking on the phone. We were forced to only let our brains connect and discover if we had a connection before our bodies decided to get involved. I’d never done it this way,” Berry said in an interview with AARP.
“I fell in love with his mind, his conversation. . . . I really believe I’ve found my person. I fell in love with him before I even met him,” she said.
Berry’s son seemed to have felt the same way about his mother and Hunt. The Catwoman actor shares her son Maceo-Robert Martinez with ex-husband Olivier Martinez, as well as an older daughter with her other ex Gabriel Aubry. Maceo celebrated the union between his parents in a way that moved everyone to tears.
“My son, Maceo, of his own volition did this little commitment ceremony for us in the back seat of the car. I think he finally sees me happy, and it’s infectious,” she said. “It was a very real moment for all of us. I teared up, Van was fighting back tears. Even Maceo knew he’d said something poignant. It meant a lot to us.”
