Texas Teen, Boyfriend Arrested in Murder of Her Grandmother, Along With Man Who Helped Them Get Away

Texas police have arrested a man they say drove a teenager and her boyfriend from Galveston County to Laredo earlier this month after the two teens killed her grandmother.

Tara King, 17, and her 18-year-old boyfriend, Uriah Urick, were arrested in Laredo on February 9, four days after King’s grandmother, Tammy King, was found dead in her Bacliff home during a welfare check, as CrimeOnline reported,

Investigators said that Tammy King, 61, had at least one gunshot wound. Urick and Tara King have been charged with capital murder.

On Wednesday, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 35-year-old Travis Hodge during a traffic stop after identifying him “as the suspect who drove Uriah Urick and Tara King to Laredo in an attempt to evade law enforcement after the crime.”

Investigators found Hodge “in possession of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and plastic baggies consistent with distribution of methamphetamine,” the sheriff’s office said.

Hodge reportedly told detectives he was a convicted felon and that Urick and Tara King gave him stolen firearms — possibly weapons that were missing from Tammy King’s home. Investigators found two firearms, ammunition, and other evidence in Hodge’s storage shed.

Hodge has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, and hindering apprehension. He’s being held without bond in the Galveston County jail.
