Nets’ Nic Claxton gets one-game suspension for sixth flagrant foul point

Nic Claxton was suspended for one game without pay as a result of picking up his sixth flagrant foul point of the regular season, the latest one coming in Monday’s loss to the Wizards.

The center will serve the ban Wednesday, when the Nets face Oklahoma City at Barclays Center.

Claxton, 25, is averaging 10.1 points per game for the Nets, but more importantly, he has been a standout on defense, which has helped spark better play by a team that has lost most of its key assets, either in trades or in buyouts.

Without Claxton, the Nets will likely rely more on Day’Ron Sharpe.

The suspension was announced by the league on Tuesday.

The team also announced it signed forward Kendall Brown to a two-way contract.

Brown has played 20 games for the Nets Long Island G-League affiliate.

He’s appeared in 21 games with the Pacers in his NBA career.
