Shakira announced her hospitalization in a Feb. 16 post to her Instagram Stories.

Shakira has canceled a performance on her 2025 world tour after being hospitalized for an “abdominal issue.” What the Grammy Award winner, 48, said about being admitted to the hospital, ahead.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress posted to Instagram on Feb. 16, 2025, that she’d been taken to the hospital and advised by doctors to cancel her concert in Lima, Peru, as part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” or “Women Don’t Cry Anymore” World Tour, per CNN. 

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” Shakira began her message. “The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.” 

Shakira started her world tour on Feb. 11, 2025, in Brazil. The U.S. leg begins in May 2025. 

“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today,” she continued. “I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.”

Shakira later thanked fans for their support following her hospitalization

Hours after announcing she’d been admitted to the hospital and forced to cancel her concert in Peru, the “She Wolf” singer once again took to her Instagram Stories. This time she thanked her fans for their support following her announcement. 

“Thank you all for your loving messages,” Shakira wrote. “You give me so much strength!! I love you with all my heart.”

Shakira’s next stop on her world tour is Barranquilla, Colombia, per her official website. She’s set to perform two nights in a row beginning Feb. 20, 2025. At the time of writing, she has not announced whether or not hospitalization will impact her Barranquilla shows.
