A 14-year-old girl was dragged out of her home in front of her family and then assaulted in the front yard by four people as old as 33.

The girl was with her mother, grandmother and cousin at their home in Larapinta, north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, before 5.30pm yesterday when a group of females came in through an unlocked door.

According to police, the group found the girl and dragged her outside to the front yard where they all assaulted her.

Her family rushed to intervene but not before the girl suffered minor injuries to her head and legs.

The group of females, two of whom are known to the girl and are believed to be aged 15 and 33, fled the scene before police arrived.

The girl was taken to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

Her offenders remain on the run.

Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to contact them.
