A man has been questioned by police after another was critically injured when he allegedly attacked with a baseball bat during a street brawl in a suburban street.

Emergency services were called to a reserve at Byrnes St in South Granville in  western Sydney at about 5.40pm on Sunday following reports of a melee involving multiple males.

A man aged in his 20s was found at the scene with serious head injuries and was rushed to Westmead Hospital under a police escort in a critical condition.

CCTV from a nearby home timestamped 35 minutes earlier showed dozens of men in the reserve before a man suddenly flees down the street.
